Mettler Toledo Safeline X-Ray, a leading provider of inspection and detection solutions, required comprehensive HVAC systems for their new office and warehouse facility. The project involved the installation of cutting-edge heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions to ensure optimal comfort and functionality across the premises.

Challenges

The Mettler Toledo Safeline X-Ray facility presented unique challenges due to its diverse requirements. The critical nature of the communications room, housing expensive server equipment, demanded a fail-safe HVAC solution to ensure continuous operation even in the event of system failures. Additionally, the project required careful planning to optimize energy efficiency and maintain a comfortable environment throughout the facility.

Solution

Our team addressed these challenges with a carefully tailored HVAC solution:

VRF Heat Recovery Systems

We installed four Mitsubishi Electric VRF heat recovery systems to efficiently manage heating and cooling demands across the premises. Two systems were dedicated to the ground floor, while the remaining two served the first floor. These systems provided precise temperature control, ensuring comfort in various areas of the building.

Fan Coil Units

A total of 55 fan coil units were strategically placed throughout the facility, including ceiling cassettes and wall-mounted units. This allowed for effective air distribution, maintaining consistent indoor temperatures.

Communications Room HVAC

For the critical communications room on the first floor, we implemented a redundant split wall-mounted system setup. This configuration involved two independent systems operating on a run/standby basis with a weekly rotation. This approach guaranteed uninterrupted cooling for the server equipment, even if one of the primary VRF systems experienced a fault.

External Condenser Placement

To accommodate the HVAC systems, external condensers were carefully lifted into place using cranes and positioned on the flat roof directly above the facility. This placement optimized system performance and minimized any impact on the building’s aesthetics.
