The Queer Comedy Club, located in South East London, required an air conditioning and ventilation solution that ensured comfort and air quality while fitting into the constraints of their building.

Challenges

The project involved the supply and installation of two advanced Daikin systems serving three indoor units, alongside MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) systems to optimise airflow and air distribution.

Solution

System 1: Daikin VRV IV i-series

Application: Main Bar Area
Configuration: Connected to two 10kW ceiling cassettes.
Unique Feature: This VRV system is distinct due to its internal condenser design, comprising two components – a heat exchanger and a compressor.

Advantages:

Internal Installation: Suitable for locations where external plant is problematic.
Flexibility: The split design allows the heat exchanger to fit into a false ceiling space while the compressor resides in a back room or technical area.
Noise Control: Low operational noise complies with urban noise regulations.
Efficient Operation: Variable Refrigerant Temperature (VRT) technology maximises seasonal efficiency while eliminating cold draughts.

System 2: Single-Split Ceiling Cassette

Application: Stage and Seating Area
Configuration: A standalone 10kW ceiling cassette.

Ventilation Enhancements

In addition to the air conditioning systems, MVHR units were installed to improve airflow and maintain indoor air quality. These systems recover heat from the outgoing air and use it to warm the incoming air, ensuring consistent temperature and energy efficiency.
